Emergency Dentistry

Time held open every day for severe tooth pain, swelling, and cracked or injured teeth.

Tooth pain rarely waits for a convenient time. Founders Endodontics holds appointment time open every day for patients with urgent problems, so you can be seen quickly when it matters.

When to call right away

  • Severe or throbbing tooth pain
  • Swelling in your face or gums
  • A tooth that is cracked, chipped or knocked loose
  • Pain or sensitivity in a tooth that already had a root canal

If you chip a tooth

  1. Rinse with warm salt water to keep the area clean.
  2. Cover a sharp edge with sugarless gum so it does not cut your cheek or tongue.
  3. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if you need one.
  4. Call the office so the tooth can be checked as soon as possible.

What happens at your visit

Imaging shows whether the damage has reached the nerve of the tooth. If it has, an emergency root canal can remove the injured tissue and stop the pain the same day. If a crack or old treatment is the cause, Dr. Fitzgibbons will explain the options, from retreatment to microsurgery, and help you keep the tooth whenever possible.
